Patrol Division

The Patrol Division of the Russellville Police Department is the largest and most visible division, responsible for providing 24-hour police coverage to the citizens of Russellville. Officers assigned to this division patrol the city limits, respond to calls for service, enforce traffic laws, investigate accidents, and provide an immediate response to emergencies. The Patrol Division also handles crime prevention, community policing initiatives, and serves as the first point of contact for most law enforcement situations. Patrol officers work in close coordination with other divisions to gather information, assist in ongoing investigations, and ensure public safety. The Patrol Division is a key component in maintaining law and order, protecting property, and enhancing the quality of life within the community.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Patrol Division is frequently referred to as the backbone of the Police Department. Officers of this division are the most familiar to the general public because they are responsible for the 24-hour task of responding to calls for:

  • Accident investigation
  • Apprehending criminals
  • Community interaction
  • Conducting preliminary criminal investigations
  • Preventing criminal activity
  • Service
  • Traffic enforcement

About the Staff

The Patrol Division is divided into 4 shifts, and each shift consists of 9 or 10 Officers including an Assistant Watch Commander and a Watch Commander. Each shift covers the 5 patrol zones within the city limits of Russellville.
